Tiny Stars (ages 3-4), Air Stars (ages 5-7 years) & Air Kids (ages 8-11 years) 

Beginner

Young aerialists will be introduced to the basics of flying on many different types of equipment including silks, trapeze, lyra, and sling. Students will gain upper body strength, agility and flexibility in this hour long class focusing on safety and body awareness. Students will soar to new heights with this exciting new form of exercise!

Cost: $105/month (autopay)

Intermediate

After successful completion of the beginner level class, students will begin to have more body awareness and strength. Our intermediate level class will rotate through the same 4 disciplines, including silks, trapeze, lyra and sling. Students will start to develop a broader movement vocabulary on each apparatus and advance to learning more skills, transitions, and inversions.

Cost: $105/month (autopay)

Advanced (ages 8+)

After successful completion of the Intermediate Level class, students will move on to the advanced level. Our advanced class will rotate through the same 4 disciplines, including silks, trapeze, lyra and sling. Students are becoming stronger, developing more body awareness and are more comfortable with inversion skills in the air. More advanced transitional elements, skills, wraps, entries, drops and sequences will be taught at this level working towards gaining more stamina in the air.

Air Essentials (Groupon Only)

Youth (ages 5-11 years) & Teens/Adults (ages 12+)

4 week mini taster session

Our Groupon friendly class will quickly introduce students to the world of aerial during their 4 class session. Young aerialists will be introduced to the basics of flying on the aerial silks and slings in this mini session. Students will gain upper body strength, agility and flexibility in this hour long class focusing on safety and body awareness. Students will soar to new heights with this exciting new form of exercise!

Air Essentials for Teens/Adults

(ages 12+)

Beginner

This is the perfect beginner level technique class for those students wanting an introduction to aerial arts. Basic technique will be taught on a variety of equipment including silks, trapeze, lyra, and sling. Students will learn basic mounts and dismounts on each type of equipment focusing on safety and body awareness. Class will progress with basic beginner skills and transitions for a broader experience on each apparatus. After completing a full 12 week session of the beginner level, students may move into the intermediate level class. Students who have never taken an aerial class before must first take the beginner level class for a complete 12 week session.

Stars Performance Class

(ages 5-7 years)

Little Stars is a performance based class geared towards kids 5-8 years of age. This hour and 15 minute long aerial class will give students a taste of both aerial technique and performance. Students will work together over the session to build a show that will be performed at Iluminar Aerial’s studio under the stage lights. This beginning level performance class will rotate through the same 4 disciplines, including silks, trapeze, lyra and sling. Students will start to develop a movement vocabulary on each apparatus as well as some basic dance and acrobatics to perform aerial.

Cost: $120/month (autopay)


Shooting Stars Performance Class

(ages 8-17 years)

Shooting Stars is an excitement-filled class geared towards kids and teens 8-17 years of age.  This two hour aerial class will take students to the next level of aerial technique and choreography. Students will work together over a 3 month session to build a show that will be performed at Iluminar Aerial’s studio under the stage lights. This intermediate level performance class will rotate through the same 4 disciplines, including silks, trapeze, lyra and sling. Students will start to develop a broader movement vocabulary on each apparatus and advance to learning more skills, transitions, inversions as well as stamina in the air to be able to perform aerial. Prerequisite: Students must have completed one full 12 week session of Air Stars/Kids/Essentials to be eligible to sign-up for the Shooting Stars class or prior aerial experience plus Apollo approval to move up.

Silk Technique (ages 10+)

Level 1 (ages 10+)

In this beginner silks technique class, students will learn basic climbs, foot locks and wraps focusing on safety and body awareness. As students become more comfortable in the air, we will engage in learning more wraps and skills from basic figure 8 foot lock. Beginner inversions in the fabric will be introduced, low to the ground, as well as the introduction to double foot lock/aerial dance wrap. Strength conditioning exercises will also be implemented to help students achieve the proper body awareness and strength needed for aerial silks. 

Cost: $120/month (autopay)

Level 2 (ages 10+)

In this intermediate silks technique class, students are becoming more comfortable in the air and  will engage in learning intermediate wraps and skills. Beginner inversions in the fabric will be introduced as well as skills from the double foot lock. Students must have their double foot lock in the air to enroll in this class. Prerequisite: 12 week session of Air Essentials Intermediate, Silk Technique Level 1 or Apollo teacher approval.

Cost: $120/month (autopay)

Level 3 (ages 12+)

In this upper intermediate level class, students are becoming more comfortable with inversion wraps like thigh hitch and same/opposite side catcher’s locks and will be introduced to s-wraps and helicopters. More intermediate transitional elements, skills and drops will be taught at this level working towards gaining more stamina in the fabric.  Students must be able to invert on their own and have their thigh hitch, double foot lock, same/opposite side catcher’s locks to enroll in this level class.

Level 4 (ages 12+)

At this advanced level, students will concentrate on advanced inversion skills, drops, and transitional skills.  Students must have clean straddle inversions, thigh hitch, hips keys, same/opposite side catcher’s locks and s-wraps to enroll in this level class. Prerequisite: Aerial Silks Level 3 or Apollo teacher approval.

Sling Technique (ages 10+)

Level 1 (ages 10+)

In this beginner sling technique class, students will learn basic positions and skills focusing on safety and body awareness. As students become more comfortable in the air, they will engage in learning more challenging skills and combinations. Strength conditioning exercises will also be implemented to help students achieve the proper body awareness and strength needed for aerial sling. 

Cost: $120/month (autopay)

Level 2 (ages 10+)

In this intermediate sling technique class, students are becoming more comfortable in the air and  will engage in learning intermediate positions, skills, and some drops. Prerequisite: 12 week session of Sling Technique Level 1 or instructor approval.

Level 3/4 (ages 12+)

In this intermediate/advanced level class, more intermediate transitional elements, skills and drops will be taught, working towards gaining more stamina and fluidity in their movements.  

Prerequisite: Students must be able to invert on their own and have completed Sling Level 2 or have instructor approval.

Trapeze Technique (Ages 12+)

Level 1 (ages 10+)

In this beginner level technique class, students are becoming more comfortable in the air and will engage in learning beginner skills, coning, spinning and transitional skills. Beginner inversions in the ropes will be introduced. Students must be able to pullover on the bar and have clean straddle inversions under the bar. Prerequisite: 12 week session of Air Essentials Intermediate or Iluminar teacher approval.

Cost: $120/month (autopay)

Level 2 (ages 10+)

In this intermediate level technique class, students are gaining more confidence in the air and will engage in learning intermediate skills, coning, spinning and transitional skills. More advanced inversions in the ropes will be introduced. Students must be able to pullover on the bar and have clean straddle inversions under the bar. Prerequisite: 12 week session of Trapeze Technique Level 1 or Iluminar teacher approval.

Cost: $120/month (autopay)

Level 3/4 (ages 12+)

In this upper intermediate level technique class, students are gaining more stamina and strength in the air and will engage in learning choreographic sequences on the trapeze. Students will be introduced to more inversion skills in the ropes, transitions from one skill to the next in a seamless matter and will start to learn more dynamic moves. Students must be able to pullover cleanly on the bar,  have clean straddle inversions under the bar and in the ropes, have a clean sailor/dolphin in the ropes and can comfortably get to a x position in the ropes in an inversion. Prerequisite: 12 week session of Air Essentials Intermediate, Trapeze Level 1 or Apollo teacher approval.

Lyra Technique (Ages 12+)

Level 1 (ages 10+)

In this intermediate level technique class, students are becoming more comfortable in the air and will engage in learning intermediate skills, coning, spinning and transitional skills. Beginner inversions and skills on top of the bar will be introduced. Students must be able to pullover on the bar and have their straddle inversions under the bar.

Cost: $120/month (autopay)

Level 2 (ages 10+)

In this upper intermediate level technique class, students are gaining more stamina and strength in the air and will engage in learning choreographic sequences on the lyra.  Students will be introduced to more inversion skills, transitions from one skill to the next in a seamless matter and will start to learn more dynamic moves. Students must be able to pullover on the bar, have clean straddle inversions and can pull themselves up to the top of the lyra. Prerequisite: 12 week session of Lyra Level 1 or Apollo teacher approval.

Level 3/4 (ages 12+)

At this advanced level, students will concentrate on advanced skills, mounts, rolls, transitions and will engage in learning  advanced choreographic sequences. Students must have clean straddle inversions, Russian splits, single knee hangs and solid inversions in the ropes to enroll in this level class. Prerequisite: Lyra Level 2 or Apollo teacher approval.

Aerial Wall: Youth (ages 6-11 years) & Teen/Adult (ages 12+) & Professional Level (ages 18+)

In this exciting technique class offered at The Apollo Center, dancers will take to the air and turn the dance floor on it’s side! Wall dancing or vertical dance refers to an aerial performance apparatus where performers are suspended in the air with a rope and a harness using the wall as the new floor to move and dance on. Using the same equipment as rock climbers, students will learn the basics of rigging, ascending, descending and wall safety.  Class will consist of conditioning drills on the ground to help strengthen essential abdominal muscles as well as technical exercises on the wall to help students become comfortable with a new spatial orientation. Once simple static positions have been acquired, students will explore the possibilities with the pendulum of the rope. Class will move on to learning choreography phrases that will help students combine their skills into one seamless dance.

Class Requirements: Students must bring closed toed shoes and long pants to participate in class. Knee pads are also recommended but not required.
